AI, robotics, and digital technology revolutionizing dental care in Mumbai

Revolutionizing Dentistry: Mumbai Dentists Embrace Digital Technologies for Faster and More Efficient Treatments

In a groundbreaking development, dental students in Mumbai will now be learning digital dentistry and digital implantology, revolutionizing the way dental procedures are conducted. The Indian Dental Association (IDA) has urged dentists to embrace newer technologies in patient care, leading to a shift towards more efficient and precise dental treatments.

Gone are the days of painful and time-consuming multiple visits to the dentist. With digital dentistry, patients can now have a tooth extracted, an implant placed, and a new tooth made using 3D printing, all in one sitting. This advancement in technology not only eliminates the inconvenience associated with traditional dental procedures but also provides more predictable outcomes for patients.

Dr. Himanshu Mehta, immediate past president of the Indian Society of Oral Implantologists, emphasized the significance of digital dentistry, stating that it is the future of dental care. With Maharashtra leading in dental implants due to advanced infrastructure and a higher number of specialists, the adoption of digital technologies is expected to further enhance the quality of dental services in the region.

While the dental curriculum is yet to incorporate these changes, the International Digital Dentistry Congress, organized by the Digital Dentistry Society – International and the Indian Dental Association, will explore the possibilities of integrating digital technologies into dental treatments. From AI and robotics assisting in surgical procedures to personalized patient care through predictive analytics, the future of dentistry is set to be transformed by technology.

Dr. Ashok Dhoble, IDA’s secretary general, highlighted the role of AI and robotics in enhancing diagnostics, improving accuracy, and reducing recovery time in dental procedures. With the use of automated manufacturing of dental prosthetics and personalized treatment plans, digital dentistry is poised to revolutionize the way dental care is delivered.

As the field of dentistry embraces digital technologies, patients can look forward to a more efficient, precise, and comfortable dental experience. The era of painful multiple visits to the dentist may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to the advancements in digital dentistry.
