A team of engineers at a university in China has made a groundbreaking development in assistive technology for the visually impaired—a high-tech robotic dog equipped with AI capabilities. Even if priced at $100,000 at launch, the guide robot would still represent substantial savings over the lifespan of the asset compared to a real guide dog, which can cost between $300,000 to $500,000 in total.

While the potential launch date for the guide robot is yet to be announced, the university has emphasized the benefits of mass production and AI-assisted development in reducing costs and addressing the shortage of guide dogs.
