Betaworks Camp Highlights Startups Building AI-Powered Native Applications
Betaworks, a prominent venture capital and accelerator firm, recently wrapped up its latest Camp program, focusing on startups developing native applications powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The program, which was first announced in May, aimed to push the boundaries of AI technology and bring us closer to the futuristic world we envision.
According to managing partner John Borthwick, despite the existence of AI chatbots and writing assistants, there is still a gap between the potential of AI and the tools available to end-users. Betaworks set out to address this issue by selecting startups that could harness the power of AI to revolutionize various industries.
The Camp program, a 12-week thematic initiative, provided each participating startup with $500,000 from a group of investors. The program culminated in Demo Day, where the startups showcased their innovative solutions. Betaworks partner Jordan Crook highlighted three main categories that the accepted companies fell into: “agentic” B2B, personalized software, and hardware-enabled AI.
Among the startups that participated in the program are Unternet, Ursula, ESAI, Autoplay, Alice Camera, Dessn, Sarama, Tato, and Hopscotch Labs. These companies are working on groundbreaking projects such as revolutionizing web applications, creating emotionally intelligent characters, automating college application processes, enhancing software navigation, developing AI-native cameras, simplifying IT projects, analyzing dog vocalizations, and providing real-time information through wearable devices.
With their innovative approaches to AI technology, these startups are poised to make a significant impact on their respective industries. Betaworks’ Camp program continues to be a breeding ground for cutting-edge technologies and groundbreaking ideas, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AI.
