Doji collects $ 14 million to play a virtual test via AI Avatars

For years, large technology companies, such as Amazon and Google, have been trying to make virtual attempts involve to encourage consumers to shop online. Startups also tried to solve the inspiration and match the fashion with the help of artificial intelligence.

The new startup called Doji It now enters this space with an application designed to create a sample of both funny and social clothing. He does it by creating an avatar, and then serving a different appearance that can inspire you to buy new clothes.

Yet, early Adopter were impressed because of that.

Only a few days later Public launch in the App StoreThe company announces a $ 14 million flooding round led by a Thrive Capital with the participation of seven Six Six. Financing will be used to improve AI Doji models, says the company.

The application like Doji exists only thanks to the last progress in artificial intelligence. The company uses its own diffusion models to create personalized avatars and make samples of more realistic clothing.

The startup was founded last year by Dorian Dargan and Jim Winkens – hence the name Doji (Dorian + Jim).

Dargan previously worked in Apple on Visionos and met on games and experiences in Oculus Quest. Winkens was a Deepmind researcher, and also worked on a generative consumer product based on artificial intelligence on Google.

The duo connected on Twitter/X around 2022. After making the common interest in the fashion world, the joint study of side projects began. Later, when Lensa was released a controversial application for creating Avatar, Dargan saw how a deep connection of people with their avatars.

“Lens made stylized avatars on various topics,” said Dargan. “We saw Lensa and thought what if we could do it for fashion, but in a photo-realistic way?”

Party Thrive Capital Miles Grimshaw said he had been captivated by the Doji application from its first use. He notes that diffusion models create an opportunity to build a “virtual mirror” to try clothes.

“Transfer to hundreds of links to click to the store is laborious. Doji has the opportunity to make shopping fun because it places me in the center of this experience. The application also has a social aspect makes me want to share another appearance (with friends and family)” – he added.

How is it to use doji application

Doji, which is still in the invited mode, leads users through the process of taking six selfies and sending two full body images to create an avatar. The application takes about 30 minutes to create an avatar, and then notifies when the avatar is ready. You can also choose your favorite brands while implementing to see more elements of them in the application.

Other applications, such as Google Block Screen, tried to create a flow of shopping inspiration powered by AI with one image. However, Doji decided on a more detailed configuration process to create higher quality avatars and better adapt users to the right clothes.

By default, the application shows clothes that can suit you thanks to a series of appearance with Avatar. You can scroll different vertices and DNA listed on the page and touch them to create a new look of your avatar.

In addition, you can publish a link to clothing from the network to check if it suited you.

In tests I felt that some avatar paintings made me look thinner or higher than me. (Doji notes that users have the ability to retrain the avatar using a new set of images if they don't like their results).

While the application allows you to try various clothes to see what some clothing would look like, can not yet say how the object fits. We were told that the startup wants to solve later.

The team is also working on a faster virtual trial process and integrating the purchase process in the application, instead of directing users to external sites.

The startup, whose application is available in over 80 countries, has not specified when it deletes the invitation system to enable everyone to use the application.

Dargan said that they are distinguished from other trial applications, it is that Doji also offers a nice way to discover clothes. In addition, he believes that Doji is better in human representation than others, thanks to his experience of designing avatars over the years.

“I think that people who examined this idea before either did not have technological chops to do it well or the taste of understanding what actually makes a person feel good in his picture,” said Dargan. “We have invested a lot in basic technology to ensure that the way you perceive yourself through images is interesting and inspiring.”
