Google announced on Tuesday about the launch of new AI agent features – a feature that allows users to ask and track complex questions to delve deeper into a topic directly within the search engine.
Users can now get help booking event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments through AI.
For example, you could say, “Find me two cheap tickets to the upcoming Shaboozey concert. I prefer standing room tickets.” AI Mode will then search multiple websites to find real-time ticket options that meet your specific requirements. Then, a selected list of ticket prices will be displayed for you to choose from. AI mode connects you directly to the booking page so you can complete your purchase.
The new agent capabilities are available to all users who have opted in to the experimental part of Google Search Labs in the US. The company notes that Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers have access to high limits.
Google first introduced agent capabilities to AI mode in August, when it began allowing users to use the feature to search for restaurant reservations.
With this option, you can order dinner reservations based on multiple preferences such as party size, date, time, location and preferred cuisine. For example, you might ask, “Get me a dinner reservation for three this Friday after 6 p.m. in the Logan Square area. Would you like some ramen or bibimbap?”
The AI mode will then search various booking platforms to find real-time availability of restaurants that match your query. It then displays a curated list of options to choose from.
“Our priority at Google Search is to provide you with high-quality information you can rely on,” Google explained on its Search Labs page. “This new mode is rooted in our core quality and safety systems, but it is still an early experiment and may cause errors.”
Google first launched AI Mode in March to leverage popular services like Perplexity AI and OpenAI's ChatGPT Search. The tech giant has since introduced AI mode to over 180 countries and continues to develop it, adding new functionalities. For example, AI Mode recently gained access to Canvas, which helps you create study plans and organize information across multiple sessions in the sidebar. Now you can also use Google Lens to ask questions about what's on your computer screen.
