Aboitiz Group Introduces AI-Powered Digital Team Members Elsie and Albert

The Aboitiz Group is taking a bold step into the world of artificial intelligence with the introduction of Elsie and Albert, its first AI-powered digital team members. Unveiled at the annual Aboitiz Group’s Leaders Conference in May, Elsie and Albert are digital avatars with human forms that can independently display expressions and answer questions with their own voice.

During the conference, the avatars showcased their capabilities by responding to cues and providing accurate summaries of presentations when asked. This demonstration highlighted the seamless collaboration between human employees and AI technology within the organization.

According to Dea Franko Csuba, Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV) vice president of transformation, the integration of AI technology is essential for leaders and professionals to adapt and transform in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape. The collaboration between human and AI colleagues exemplifies how smart technologies can help build an exciting future together.

One of the key features of Elsie and Albert is their ability to answer queries using a vast pool of data specific to the Philippine and Aboitiz Group’s business context. Unlike popular chatbots like ChatGPT, Elsie and Albert have been programmed with internal documents and data related to the group, allowing them to provide targeted, accurate, and specific responses.

Wolfgang Merkt, AEV vice president for transformative technology, emphasized the importance of AI functioning within the organization and having access to the same knowledge as employees. This makes Elsie and Albert more than just chatbots – they are digital employees with the ability to process, analyze, and reference vast quantities of company data.

In addition to their advanced capabilities, Elsie and Albert have human appearances, resembling two Aboitiz team members. This visible form adds to their approachability and encourages Aboitiz team members to interact with them more freely.

The Aboitiz Group has plans to further develop Elsie and Albert to increase their use cases within the conglomerate. With their potential to fulfill a variety of roles, both internally and externally, Elsie and Albert represent the future of AI integration in the workplace.
