Acer Founder Stan Shih Urges Taiwan to Explore New Markets for AI Innovation

Taiwan should explore markets outside the United States and China to develop and promote its own innovative AI applications in the future, according to Acer founder Stan Shih. Shih emphasized the importance of Taiwan leveraging its global computing power in the new artificial intelligence (AI) era. He suggested that Taiwan focus on AI-based total solutions such as smart medicine, smart city, and smart transportation in markets outside the U.S. and China, including Europe and Japan.

Shih highlighted the need for Taiwan to differentiate itself from major players in the U.S. and China by exploring other markets for its AI application products. He noted that Taiwan’s small local market should not limit its innovation potential, as markets are where innovation thrives. With Taiwan’s advantage in cost and speed, Shih proposed that the island become a “lab” for AI application development, showcasing its capabilities and offering custom-made solutions for the “third-world” market.
