Combining generative artificial intelligence with live filming

Today, the short film by Eliza McNitt “Ancestra” of the Prime Minister at the Tribeca festival. This is the story of a mother and what happens when her child is born with a hole in her heart. Inspired by dramatic events from McNitt's own birth, the film presents the mother's love as a cosmic, life -saving strength.

This is the first of three short films produced in cooperation Between our team on Google Deepmind and Primordial Soup, a new undertaking devoted to innovations telling stories founded by director Darren Aronofsky. Together, we set up this partnership to put the world's best artificial intelligence in the hands of the best filmmakers to develop the boundaries of telling stories and technology.

“Ancestra” combined live scenes with sequences generated by VEO, our most modern video generation model. McNitt described her experience in working with our technology: “Veo is another lens through which I imagine the universe around me.”

To create the “Ancestry”, Google Deepmind gathered a multidisciplinary creative team of animators, art directors, designers, writers, technologists and researchers who closely cooperated with over 200 experts in traditional films and production, crew and cast live campaign, as well as an editorial team, visual effects (VFX), sound and music designers.
