The recent Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) workshop held on October 2, 2024, showcased USARPAC’s commitment to innovation and readiness in the face of evolving geopolitical challenges.

Colonel Alton J. Johnson, Assistant Chief of Staff for USARPAC, highlighted the importance of AI solutions in processing vast amounts of data quickly and efficiently. USARPAC’s focus on improving mobility and communication was evident in its use of Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) and Tactical Cross Domain Solutions (TCDS). These cutting-edge systems enable effective communication in remote areas and facilitate real-time data sharing between land, air, and naval forces, enhancing joint and combined operations.

The AI/ML workshop brought together thought leaders from various institutions, including the Maui High Performance Computing Center, U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. Army Pacific, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Intel, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The event provided insights into the transformative potential of AI and Generative AI within the Department of Defense (DoD).

Major Justin James, U.S. Army Pacific G-6 Operations Branch Chief, emphasized the critical role of AI technologies in safeguarding U.S. interests and promoting regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.
