Fostering Innovative Learning through Coding, Robotics, and AI

Unlocking the Potential of Today’s Generation through Coding, Robotics, and AI

The Future is Bright: Why Kids are Embracing Coding, Robotics, and AI

We already know that every generation is smarter than the ones that come before them. Research shows that on average, every generation is 9 IQ points smarter than the preceding one, thanks to better access to nutrition, healthcare, education, money, and technology. This phenomenon, known as the Flynn Effect, explains the intellectual growth of each generation.

With this increased intelligence, today’s kids are full of curiosity and a desire to have more control over what they learn. Disciplines such as coding, robotics, and AI nurture this curiosity by not just providing answers, but helping kids unravel them and dream up innovative questions. This creative loop is irresistible to most kids, who have an innate sense of wonder towards the world.

Parents often enroll their kids in coding or robotics classes to give them an edge over others, but kids themselves have a different motivation. They want to learn these skills because it empowers them and allows them to have fun while doing so. Thanks to low-cost hardware and cheap data, most kids today have at least partial access to internet-powered devices, making learning these skills more accessible than ever before.

Social media serves as proof that with a great idea and tenacity, anything can be achieved, regardless of economic, cultural, age, gender, caste, or religious restrictions. Today’s children expect to see their learning in action in real time, rather than being satisfied with theoretical knowledge. Coding, robotics, and AI are particularly well-suited to cater to this need for experiential learning.

As kids code their own apps and web products, they start thinking deeply about problem-solving and ethical questions surrounding technology. Learning about circuits, sensory systems, the Internet of Things, and AI/ML technology prompts them to consider issues of copyrights, laws, and access to technology. This hands-on learning experience forges neural pathways that traditional learning protocols cannot, allowing kids to participate in the world in unexpected ways.

Learning coding, robotics, and AI is akin to seeing the lines of code that make up the world around us, enabling kids to understand technology’s interaction with the world and empowering them to bring about change and improvement. As kids embrace these next-gen skills, they are not just preparing for the future – they are actively shaping it.
