Sotheby’s to Auction Painting by Humanoid Robot Ai-Da: “AI God”

The world of art is about to be revolutionized as Sotheby’s prepares to auction off a painting created by a humanoid robot named Ai-Da. This groundbreaking piece, entitled “AI God,” is expected to fetch up to $180,000 and is a tribute to the legendary mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing.

Ai-Da, with her hydraulically powered hands, cameras for eyes, and AI-powered language model, is not just a robot but a true artist. She can communicate with people, compose poems, and now, create stunning works of art. Standing over 7 feet tall, her portrait of Turing is both eerie and captivating, prompting a discussion on the evolving possibilities of artmaking in the 21st century.

Created by British gallerist Aidan Meller in collaboration with Engineered Arts and the University of Oxford, Ai-Da is a performance artist, designer, and poet. While she may not be able to walk and is deemed non-conscious by her creators, Ai-Da has already made a name for herself in the art world, with her work being featured at prestigious venues such as the United Nations and the Chelsea Factory.

With her thought-provoking artwork and powerful message, Ai-Da is challenging the boundaries of AI and art, raising important questions about the future of technology and creativity. “AI God” will be up for auction this month as part of Sotheby’s Digital Art Sale, marking a new chapter in the intersection of technology and art.
