KRISP uses artificial intelligence to help Indians sound like Americans on talks

The KRISP Audio Startup said on Wednesday that he launches a new function that uses artificial intelligence to change the user accent during connections. The company initially implements support for changing Indian English accents for the US USA.

The startup claims that the accent conversion process retains the speaker's voice and only changes the phonmes to match American accents. This function has been apparently tested in corporate environments, and the beta version now arrives in the KRISP computer application. Users can enable the function at any time or before calls.

Arto Minasyan, a co -founder of the company, said that the idea for this function resulted from the problem he met in his conversations. “Many people do not understand my accent, although I speak English well. We thought that changing accents can help people understand much better. We started working on this problem two years ago, and now we release it in beta,” said Minasyan.

However, when this reporter tested this function, the processed voice did not sound natural, and sometimes he did not even miss some words. The company assigned these defects that this is a beta version, saying that the model would improve over time.

KRISP claims that after testing the functions with enterprises, sales conversion rates increased by 26.1%, and book revenues increased by 14.8%.

The company said that it decided to work on Indian accents first, because people from the country are a large part of the global workforce in the STEM fields. There are plans to add support for more accents, including Filipinos.

Other startups, such as Sana supported by GV, have implemented similar technology in large -scale telephone centers.

The company claims that it has trained thousands of speech samples that included various accents and dialects, and used data from the meeting assistant after obtaining the user's consent.

Minasyan said that another advantage of this function is that it does not require any initial training in the user's voice, because it creates a profile for the speaker in real time.

Krisp, which recently collected capital in 2021, plans to release applications on iOS and Android on the support of personal meetings this year. There is also a new Chrome extension to better integrate with Google Meet in work.
