Meta announced on Wednesday that it adds the function of powered AI to WhatsApp. The optional new feature uses Meta AI to sum up unread chat messages.
This summary would be visible to you, and not others in chat, notes the company.
This function is based on AI technology, which Finish released in Aprilwhich allowed the company to implement AI functions that do not affect the user's encryption or privacy.
“Summary of messages use private processing technology, which allows you to generate AI to generate answers without meta or whatsApp, which ever see your messages or private summaries. No one else can see that you summarized unread messages,” said Wa Blog post.
Although the function is turned off by default, WhatsApp shows a small icon that indicates that the function is available to you.
Meta initially introduces a function in the US with English support. They will reach more countries and languages this year.
Until now, users can access meta AI in chat to ask general questions or mark a message to provide chatbot context. However, Meta AI could not read your messages.
Meta said that the new pile enables the private context of WhatsApp from the context of chat to processing demands through its artificial intelligence. This allows you to summarize messages or provide writing suggestions.
The new AI powered functions are available in a new setting, to which you can access via settings> Chat> Private processing that allows you to enable or disable individual functions.
