Skylight may have started with a digital photo frame, but today the company is more focused on helping families stay organized with shared calendars, lists, meal planning tools and more.
At CES 2026, the company debuted its newest product: the Skylight Calendar 2, which offers a sleeker look than the original 15-inch calendar but smaller than the 27-inch wall-mounted Calendar Max. Like its larger counterpart, the new digital calendar and family organizer app also allows you to swap out the frame for a different color to better match your home decor.
The biggest advantage is not the digital screen itself, but the software and artificial intelligence capabilities. The core feature – the calendar – is really a combination of all your family's calendars from whatever services you use, whether it's Google Calendar, iCal, Microsoft, or even your kids' sports apps like TeamSnap.
The calendar is color-coded so you can quickly see the schedules for all your activities, and it even allows you to import “calendars” which are actually just emails with a few key dates or flyers sent home in Junior's backpack. (The latter is an artificial intelligence feature where you take a photo of the newspaper and the calendar updates with new events).
The company also aims to solve other problems for families, such as managing shopping lists, appointment reminders, meal planning and recipe discovery. Of course, it can still display family photos when not in use.
The app is well designed to be easy to read, with simple navigation, striking colors and images, so young children can use it. For example, they can check their responsibilities by looking for a photo, even if they can't read yet.

Parents also love the ability to plan meals, whether it's simply marking off taco night on Tuesday or finding a recipe and making a shopping list. This is where Skylight is helpful as it can automatically create a shopping list with ingredients for you and even add it to your Instacart app.
Another smart AI feature lets you take a photo of what's in your fridge and get a recipe recommendation based on what you have on hand.
The need for such a system clearly appeals to customers. Skylight, a start-up and profitable company from its inception, currently has more than 1.3 million families using its digital calendars, and that number is likely to grow as new designs emerge.
