The experience of the AI course and resources expand on a global scale
AI can increase one of the largest social, economic and scientific transformations in history and we must ensure that technology has benefited as many people as possible.
One of the important ways to do this is access to AI education to develop another wave of thinkers, researchers and AI leaders. It is equally important that these new generations are varied, bringing various perspectives that are necessary to create AI solutions that meet the needs of society.
However, not every young person currently has access to AI education and resources.
Today, Google Deepmind and the Raspberry Pi Foundation are expanding access to Experience of the AI program.
This comprehensive introductory course is intended for teachers for teaching 11-14-year-old students of fundamental knowledge of AI through responsible and interactive lessons, video classes and tutorials. Materials, created with educational experts, are in line with proven learning and development practices. Now we are expanding the range of AI on a global scale, aimed at strengthening more students in the world supported by AI.
Extending access to satisfy the demand for AI education
Since the launch of Experience AI has reached over 200,000 students around the world last year, requests for translated materials from teachers in countries, including Canada, Kenya and Romania.
Originally focused on Great Britain and encouraging access from students from the low socio-economic environment, the demand of the program inspired the investment of 1 million pounds to expand the program's range, equipping more students to the world supporting AI. This investment will help us cooperate with regional delivery partners to adapt and translate AI lessons, as well as enable training thousands of teachers to provide them in their classes.
Google Deepmind and Raspberry Pi Foundation gather a global group of organizations at the head of the AI movement to provide training to local teachers to teach lessons to their students. The first phase of expansion continues, and the letters of the intention signed with:
- TechSup Association (Romania) equips local non-profit organizations, schools, libraries and charity organizations with modern technological resources and training to increase social changes.
- Digital moment (Canada) is devoted to strengthening young creators of changes about necessary digital skills, such as coding, data reading ability and artificial intelligence through dynamic educational experiences aimed at social good. They are in favor of ethical innovations and integration learning, providing various young people tools and the possibility of shaping a better future.
- Techkidi Africa (Kenya) cultivates a new generation of technological innovators with adapted technological programs in the field of robotics, coding and digital design.
The behavior of our commitment to increasing diversity in artificial intelligence
By expanding AI's experience around the world, we also try to cultivate the more diverse community of scientists, engineers and AI leaders for responsible development and implementation of AI technology. The growing representation in AI allows various values to shape its design and use.
This involvement in inclusion also includes our other initiatives and cooperation, including:
- Scholarships and scholarships: We give funding for universities to support the provision of scholarships to insufficiently represented students conducting graduate studies in AI and related fields. This includes ensuring financial assistance, mentoring from Google Deepmind researchers and access to AI conferences and events to build a community of various AI students and researchers. Our scholarships are offered by researchers of early career from insufficiently represented groups on financing and post -training and mentor mentorings. In addition to financial support, we provide members with the possibility of mentoring Google Deepmind by older researchers.
- AI goals for scientific masters: In September 2023, we supported the new “AI for Science” Masters program through our cooperation with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) South Africa, an annual housing program aimed at building AI skills for scientists.
- Deep learning indaba: We supported this annual meeting, which connects over 800 members of African AI communities for the week of education, research and discussions about the latest progress of AI, and Google Deepmind researchers voluntarily co -coined their events.
Providing everyone with a voice
For artificial intelligence to really benefit everyone, everyone must influence. This diversity is crucial to ensure that AI technologies are adapted to the needs of everyone and to realize the potential of AI to become one of the most important technologies ever invented.
When we try to create artificial intelligence that brings humanity, we will continue to place education at the foundation of our mission, inviting teachers, students, enthusiasts and all between them.
