X’s New Terms of Service Spark Controversy: Users Concerned About AI Training on Posts
LinkedIn recently made changes to its terms of service, allowing the platform to access user profiles for the purpose of training artificial intelligence. This move has raised concerns about privacy and data protection among users. However, there is good news for LinkedIn users – you can opt out of this feature if you have a LinkedIn account.
To opt out, go to your profile picture at the top of your screen, click the drop-down menu, and select Settings and Privacy. On the left side of the next screen, select Data Privacy. In the Data Privacy menu, look for Data for Generative AI Improvement, which is the sixth item down from the top. Select it and then set the slider for “Use my data for training content creation AI models” to off.
While it’s unfortunate that any information you had on LinkedIn before opting out may have already been used, you can still protect your information going forward by flipping that switch. LinkedIn has stated that they are using AI to create new tools to help people find jobs through their network.
It’s important for users to be aware of how their data is being used and to take steps to protect their privacy online. By being proactive and understanding the options available to them, users can maintain control over their information and ensure that it is being used in a way that aligns with their preferences.
