YouTube is running a “voluntary termination program” that includes severance pay for U.S. employees, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday. He was the first to report this news Sources.
On Wednesday, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan told employees about the program in an internal memo.
The note also announced that the Google-owned company is reorganizing its product teams into three separate organizations that report directly to Mohan. The “Subscription Products” team will focus on YouTube subscription products across YouTube Music, Premium and OTT.
The Viewer Products team will focus on the viewer experience across the main YouTube app, YouTube Kids, learning, trust and safety, and more. Finally, the Creator & Community Products organization will focus on supporting creators and building communities.
The company says no positions will be eliminated as part of these changes.
The move comes as Alphabet launched its earnings for the third quarter on Wednesday said YouTube ad revenue reached $10.26 billion in the period, up 15% year-over-year.
